About

Hello, I’m Yung.

I’m a Melbourne-based product designer with a penchant for simple usability, grotesque typefaces, filter coffee, and precise product requirements.

Over a decade, I traversed the design tree—from building brands, identities, books, illustrations, motion graphics, websites—to finding my place in crafting useful products, design systems, and building up a design team.

In 2016, I co-founded Gridhaus, a Singaporean design consultancy championing thoughtful design, branding, and user impact for SMEs. We pivoted clients from subjective preferences to goal-driven design outcomes.

In 2019, I joined Workmate—a platform-based company creating jobs for blue-collar workers. Here, I refined design workflows, team processes, and learnt the importance of measuring real product growth.

I’m now designing People Analytics for Knoetic—a platform built for CPOs, merging powerful people analytics with insights from an exclusive community of 1,000+ top People executives.

After logging off…

In 2015, I spent my thesis year researching and experimenting with inkjet, laser, and risograph printers as active design tools, challenging their typical use of printing finished designs.

In 2016, I squashed Kuala Lumpur’s tourism logo in a semi-viral post. In retrospect, I wonder if there could’ve been more significant outcomes, had I written for shorter attention spans.

In 2018, I sent art prints as gifts to those who made a difference in Malaysia’s general election. What a short-lived bliss we had.

In 2020/21, my lockdown activities included training a rescue Greyhound with my partner, building an art print store, and falling down the rabbit hole of modding mechanical keyboards.

Other things I’m up to
